A Stitch in Time

The word on the street is that the “9” train, a subway that makes local stops, is in jeopardy of being phased out. This makes me sad the same way news of Crayola colors and Lifesavers flavors being “retired” made me sad. A while ago, when Burnt Sienna’s head was on the Crayola chopping block, I must confess I suffered a fair bit of anxiety, much like when Lifesavers threatened to kill off Pineapple.
Alas, Burnt Sienna and Pineapple were spared. But will the 9 fare as well? What will it take for that plan to be 86’d? A stitch in time?
This morning, on my way home from the gym, rather than wait for the “2” or “3” (the express trains that run along the same route as the “9”), I took the “9”. I will continue to take it every time it presents itself, and to carry Burnt Sienna crayons and Pineapple Lifesavers in my pockets to give the train some inspiration. I think I can make a difference. At least I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.
