Ned isn’t particularly fond of being a tree, but what’s he going to do? He can’t go anywhere. He can’t hide. He can’t pretend to be a car (how he envies those!) or a dog or a strawberry. He can’t go to trade school or college. He can’t run his own food truck selling tacos or drive an ice cream truck. He can’t go onstage and belt out a show tune and win a Tony. So he stands tall, enjoys the breeze that rustles his branches, the sunlight on his leaves, and welcomes the occasional person who actually hugs him.
